Mootzulea`s Journal

Vampirix diary Mary Read

I was hanging out in my favourite pond today with my vampire buddies, doing the usual vampire stuff - attempting to hypnotize a fish that seemed to know some old vampire spells or something. We were all riffling through our spell books, ignoring the grumpy old bat scowling down at us from his perched perch, when my scientist friend, Paddik, dropped by to join us with some exciting news - his latest project was going to launch a spacecraft into the depths of space, and he wanted me to come along for the ride.

At first, I was a little apprehensive. After all, I am a vampire, so naturally I was worried I might draw too much attention up in the stars! But Paddik pointed out that the spacecraft was on autopilot, and the press would never find us - plus he reminded me of my limitless curiosity and my lifelong dream to visit Mars.

So off we flew, soaring up and up and up, further than I had ever imagined or hoped. We made quite a sight, I must say - Paddik, in his lab coat, spinning dials and adjusting knobs; me, in my cape billowing in the wind as I stared out ahead at the sparkling vastness of space; and our three cats, M + M + M, peering out the viewport windows and chirping excitedly about the birds they could see out yonder.

Our craft had just reached the peak of intergalactic travels, when we noticed an asteroid zooming straight toward us at alarming speed, with no intention of veering off. We had only seconds left before impact, and after frantically searching for the thruster emergency brake, Paddik had an epiphany - the asteroid was made of cheese, which he knew was an undead vampire's kryptonite. We used this to our advantage, using the rocks’ essence of cheesy goodness to successfully slow the spacecraft enough to avoid a collision.

We celebrated with a little rock music and a rousing game of trivia and puns, and for a brief moment forgot all our worries and just took in the breathtakingness of our own galactic adventure, the likes of which I had only ever dreamed of!

And then, M + M + M reminded us of the time, and after a few quick hugs and farewells, it was time to resume our journey back to Earth.

Yes, it had been an adventure. One I'll never forget! So with a laugh, I turned off the lights, ready to patiently wait until the next time I can journey off into the stars with my beloved vampire friends.
