Today was one of those days where I just had to get out of the house and go do something unusual. So I decided I’d take a walk late at night to the local mall. It was a bit eerie as usual, even more late in the evening. After walking around and taking in all the sights, I decided a little treat was in order. So I went to the smoothie place and got a 'Pina Colada'. I know it's very unlike me to be drinking such a human-like beverage but I had a taste for it and it made the night even more surreal.
I decided to sit down on one of the benches outside the mall and just watch everything around me. It was raining slightly, but I found that quite comforting because it managed to make the atmosphere even more magical. I sat there for a while, watching the people and how they interacted. I watched how small things like a joke or a smile can bring so much joy to humans.
Soon it got darker and the people slowly started to disappear. I saw a few of the stray cats that live around here and wandered a bit more. I looked up and saw the stars, it made me feel like I was ancient princess warrior and I remembered things I didn't even know I'd forgotten.
Feeling somewhere between exhausted and invigorated I decided to head home. As I started walking I felt some of the stress start to build up. I must have been walking round with my head in the clouds because I didn’t notice the other vampire. She smiled at me and asked if I wanted to go for a fly.
Barely thinking about it, I nodded my agreement and then before I knew it we were soaring high in the night sky. We flew in fits and spurts, along with the other night creatures, chatting and laughing and sharing stories.
After a while I decided it was probably time to get going. I thanked my vampire friend and flew down to the same spot I had left before. I thanked the rain for being my friend and walked back home, feeling enlightened and relieved.
Yes, definitely one of those weird days.
