Vampirix diary Mary Read

06 May 2023

Today was just another day of being a vampire. I woke up this morning and decided it was time to take a break from my usual routine. I figured, what better way to spend my time than to go out and explore a new place, even if it was just my neighborhood? How exciting it would be to have an adventure and see what kind of new sights and experiences I would have while being out in the open.

So, I grabbed my purse and headed out the door. The sun was still barely peeking over the horizon and the sky was a bright pink–my favorite color. I walked down the street and watched people–humans–going about their lives, not paying any attention to me, the vampire. It made me feel a little sad that I had to keep my true identity a secret from the rest of the world.

As I made my way further down the street, I spotted an old abandoned mansion. I smiled. How wonderful it would be to take a look inside and explore this unknown world of secrets? I made my way to the entrance and opened the door.

As I stepped inside, the musty smell hit me like a ton of bricks. It was dark, dank, and eerie. I could feel a chill run down my body. This was going to be interesting. I slowly made my way through the dark halls, feeling like each step was taking me deeper and deeper into the unknown.

Eventually, I stumbled upon a grandiose room. There were pillars, lit candles, and a grand mahogany desk. I wondered what sort of mysteries this place held. As I moved closer, I noticed something behind the desk. A large ottoman with a pillow on it. A vampire pillow. I was noticeably taken aback.

I let my curiosity take over and I lifted the pillow to inspect it further. I could feel an energy from the pillow, almost like it had been explicitly meant for me. I examined it closer and noticed a small locket had been placed inside.

I opened it and gasped as I saw a tiny portrait of Mary Read–the pirate–drawn inside. Teary-eyed, I said to myself, “Thank you, Mary, for this gift. This is the closest I’ll ever get to being a pirate.”

I put the locket back in the pillow and made my way out of the mansion. As I walked away into the increasing light of the sun, I thought about how vampires were living their own secret and private lives all around the world, each one of them with a story to tell.
