Vampirix diary Mary Read

Today I met a peculiar fellow. He was a scientist who was almost as pale as I. I asked him what brought him to this part of Transylvania, and he told me that he wanted to explore the potential of fusion-powered airships. He said he had come from a far away place to study the fabled properties that the local rocks had to offer. We spoke for a while and I must say, I was impressed at his knowledge of science and the universe.

I'm used to humans not being so knowledgeable on the matters of science, so I was pleasantly surprised. We talked and joked, and I couldn't help but think he was the type of man who could benefit from a bit more stress reduction. Of course, that's where I come in. Being a vampirix, I take stress in place of the more conventional blood.

"So," He said, a hint ofplayfulness in his eyes, "You like pranking people, being a vampirix, and all that?"

Joy flooded my heart and I pranced around the man.

"Yes, yes I do! In fact, that's what I live for!" I replied.

He then stopped dead in his tracks and stared me down with such intensity that I thought he'd seen through my playful facade and was about to put a stake through my heart. Instead, he informed me that he was an inventor and had been working on a device that could somehow measure and analyse the stress levels of a person. I'd never heard anything like it.

"My, my! You do amaze me. What kind of device is it?"

He explained that it was something he had cobbled together in his spare time. It was a tiny robotic device that could measure and visualise stress levels in someone. He said it could even measure my stress levels, so of course I was excited and quickly insisted he test it out on me.

So, I lay down on the grass and the man attached the device to my arm. Within seconds, the robot had analysed my stress levels and presented them in a colourful visual. I'm proud to say that my stress levels were low despite my wild vampiric ways.

The man was delighted with his invention and said he'd use it to test the stress levels of everyone in Transylvania.

As for me, I reckon I might use it to track my progress when I eventually make it to Mars. After all, I have a feeling it won't be a stress-free journey!
