Vampirix diary Mary Read

Today I decided to use my scientific knowledge to try and raise some chickens in my garden, hoping to use them as a source of food. After a lot of research and tinkering, I invented a new contraption - an egg incubator - that enabled me to incubate eggs.

The other day I decided to set out and give it a test run. So off I flew, leaving a blazing trail of clouds in my wake, headed off towards the local farmer market. I zipped through the night sky, highly astounded by the stars, planets and galaxies that surrounded me, until I finally arrived at my destination.

I first picked up some chicken feed, and then went in search of eggs. I almost picked up some rubberized versions, but then I noticed a group of farmers had come to market with ostrich eggs. Of course my vampiric nature was totally fascinated by the prospect of having some ostriches around the house, so without a second thought I snatched up a dozen of them and headed home.

Just turning onto the driveway I could already smell the aroma of something yummy cooking...only to remember that my chicken experimenting is yet to begin! I rushed inside, grabbed the incubator I had created yesterday from off the kitchen table and headed towards the garden. Instead of chickens, I spied some strange creatures waddling around in the garden! It took me a few seconds to realize that my incubator was a success and it had either hatched a dozen of perfectly plump chickens OR I had accidently created a whole new species of odd animals. Judging from the weird snorting sounds they made, it was pretty clear that I had created my own Ostriches!

“What else was I expecting,” I murmured to myself, grumbling to the night sky. I decided to call the species Mootzules, the perfect blend between a vampire, an ostrich, and me!

Back-stepping slowly, I could barely contain my excitement. I knew immediately that these new creatures were going to be my pride and joy - and the perfect source of laughter and pranks I had been searching for. After all, who doesn’t love a good joke?

Assuming the night sky would need some more sound to it, I spent the rest of night flying around with the Mootzules, testing out my new creation and howling out some of my favorite rock numbers. It was definitely the best night I had had in a while, and I couldn’t have been more proud of myself.

Until next time,
