Today was a glorious day. I woke up to the sound of birds outside my window, and right away I knew that something exciting was about to happen. I could feel it in my bones.
I got out of bed and dressed – an outfit consisting of a black leotard, black heels and a long, red velvet cape – and thrilled with anticipation, I left my bedroom and made my way to the living room. I was soon joined by some of my friends, who had come to partake in the evening’s festivities. All of us had been invited to a masquerade ball at the palace of Dracula himself.
Everything about the ball was glamorous and mysterious. As we arrived, we saw mysterious figures in capes dispersing down dark hallways and the walls were lined with paintings of the most legendary vampires of all time.
We all looked fabulous in our costumes; I was greeted by friends in the most gorgeous dresses and masks. Dracula was seated in a tall armchair, wearing his signature black cape, and I kneeled before him to receive his blessings.
The evening was full of music, dancing and entertainment. I danced with an old friend, with whom I could barely speak as we were both wearing full masks, and then we played a game of cards with the other guests. I could feel the tension in the room, as everyone wanted to outsmart each other and everyone took their game pieces very seriously.
Finally, it was time to leave the party and go home. As I walked back down the dark hallways, I looked at all the paintings again and couldn't help but think about how lucky I was to be part of this world. I bowed one last time to Dracula and his court, said goodbye to all my friends and made my way home, feeling energized and alive.
