The moon was especially bright tonight, casting a soft, ivory glow across the horizon as I took flight. I could feel the cool breeze rippling through my hair, almost as if it were trying to caress me like an old friend. I felt so alive, so free! I let out a shriek of sheer joy, soaring across the night sky like a lightning bolt of electricity.
Tonight was special. I had recently secured myself a rather generous amount of money, and I planned to celebrate in style with an evening of shopping and dining. I flew low, relishing in the sweet smell of freedom, when I suddenly caught the scent of a delicious new boutique.
I flew through the open window and landed atop a creamy taffeta evening jacket with the utmost grace and poise. Instantly, my manic giggles filled the room as I began trying on item after item, spinning around in a beautiful galaxy of frothy fabrics and extravagant trimmings. Not being of the materialistic sort, I simply delighted in the sensation of luxuriating in lavish attire.
My fun was soon interrupted, as a cleverly disguised bat in sunglasses and a newspaper suddenly appeared before me. She was one of my vampire girlfriends, come to join me in my evening of festivities.
Before I knew it, we were out the door, coupon book and sunglasses in hand, and off to the grocery store. We loaded up on supplies for tonight’s party, which was sure to be filled with witty jokes, cats dressed to the nines, and of course, plenty of Pina Coladas.
After shopping, we set off for the mall, where we spent hours perusing stores and debating the politics of the day. We never knew when to call it quits, the two of us having far too much energy. Eventually, a delicious dinner came our way, and I indulged in some of the exotic flavors I had discovered during my travels to various countries.
Finally, exhausted, we decided to make our way home. I dropped my friend off before continuing into the night, propelled by an old familiar feeling of joy, and the sheer pleasure of feeling alive.
