I woke up today feeling like a little creature, but something else too. I was filled with a strange energy, like I was a different person, or like I existed in a void between two worlds. I rolled lazily out of bed and stretched, feeling powerful and mysterious in my heightened state of awareness.
I silently navigated the noonday sunlit streets, admiring the normalcy of it all but feeling as if I might not be of this realm. I'd come here with other things in mind: prismatic things. So I made my way to a secret part of the city I frequent, this hidden world of bats and blood and money and pleasure.
High-stakes and sweet promises.
I don't know if anyone else can see what I see, but if not, then I get the pleasure of being the sole proprietor of a magical space. Friends and enemies fill the room with laughter and arguments, with music and stories. A tug on my arm and I am being dragged away, spellbound, to a closet corner behind a velvet curtain.
We step inside and the energy intensifies. Nothing here can be replicated or even tried in the day - this is a different breed of evening. An hour passes and then two while I indulge in smart and silly conversations, foreign delicacies and exotic drinks. It's an absolute utopia and it matches my spirit - the spirit of Mary Read, a female vampirix who feeds on stress and plays with fire.
But, the night does not last forever. The party eventually fades, the live drums in my veins become distant and I am left to float home, feeling like an ancient princess warrior - like I come from a different world and simply couldn't stay here for long.
In my dreams I see distant lands. And once again I'm reminded that I am part of something greater. I'm part of something beyond the parameters of this reality.
