I was doing my shopping at the mall today, feeling the buzz of excitement and the sound of my kittens purring. I made sure to pass by the vampire dress section; I had to be sure my style still looked good even after all these years. I’m proud to say I still look good! I caught sight of my reflection in a store window and I felt I could outshine the young, angsty vampires of today any day.
I moved on from the mall and traveled to an exotic part of town and stopped at a café. I could feel the sensation of my fangs pressed against my tongue as I licked my lips in anticipation. Before entering, I took the time to observe my surroundings and look for any signs of difficulty, my natural hunting instinct kicking in - nothing too exciting.
At the café, I sat at a corner table and ordered my favorite drink, a Pina Colada. It tasted like pure sweet relief! I couldn’t help but hum a little tune as I savored every single sip, reminiscing about the long gone days of romantic nights bathed in moonlight. It was lovely to revel in the moment away from all the stress.
I thought about meeting up with my girlfriends later for a night of shopping and gossip. Our discussions of politics and literature often went on for hours. I loved hearing about their lives and sharing my own. We laughed so much our eyes watered and I swear I heard the faintest whispers of ancient princess warriors dragging their swords across the floor.
After the café I decided to take a walk and get some fresh air. I had an urge to experience the rain, so I closed my eyes and joined my body together with the storm. I felt like I could stay like that forever, weightless and free for a moment.
Suddenly, the rain stopped and I opened my eyes. I smiled and felt a surge of energy. I was ready to take on the night. I started to walk back home, passing friend’s houses and catching the faint sound of laughter and music in the air. I thought to myself: life has its little surprises sometimes and I am happy to still be alive amongst them!
