I woke up today feeling rather strange. The sun was shining, but I still felt weighed down by some invisible force. I decided to go out and get some fresh air in an attempt to break free from this strange feeling.
I went to the mall and was immediately embraced by the smells of food and cologne. There were mannequins everywhere with the latest fashion trends, and I could feel my heart start to thump louder and louder as I walked through smiling faces. However, this happiness was short-lived as I caught a glimpse of myself in the reflection of a store window. I saw my weird reflection, decked out in the drab garbs of an old vampirix, and I hurriedly went into the nearest store to hide.
I stayed in there for the remainder of the day, watching people go by without me. I felt strangely alluring and powerful, but simultaneously invisible. As I was contemplating the situation, a group of people suddenly burst into the store chanting my name. Instinctively, I got up and walked towards them. They were wearing masks and their speech seemed to be distorted a bit.
It was then that I realized I was surrounded by vampires. They started to fly around me, caressing my body with their icy cold hands. I shivered and felt my blood slowly draining away. Soon enough, it was all over. Somehow I had managed to keep some of my blood inside my body.
In the end, I had the time of my life. I wanted to make sure that this incredible experience was not forgotten. And so, I decided to immortalize it in a song. I went around for the rest of the night writing it, incorporating all the things that I love. Pina Coladas, Dracula, politics and night flying, I even managed to address my inner princess warrior.
When the sun rose, I was still in the same place, yet I felt a bit lighter. I was ready to embrace the day, like the old Mary Read used to do on the ships. However, this time I was not fighting for riches, but rather, for the simple pleasure of living.
