I wake up indoors as the morning light streams in through a crack in the curtains. I'm not sure where I am or how I got here. I attempt to rub my eyes and smirk at the irony of being a vampire who only requires rest, not sleep. I look around the room and smile in contentment as I take in the sight of a crowded bookshelf and my many trinkets that line the walls.
I make my way to the kitchen and take in the smell of my favorite type of tea, earl grey. I feel my body urge for it, like a human might for a cup of coffee on a typical morning. I make it just the way I like it; strong, yet sweet. Already, I'm humming to myself, a song of joy for simply being alive.
Outside, the sun shines as I pull my vampire cloak over my typical outfit of the day; a pair of skinny jeans, a black t-shirt, and my favorite combat boots. I laugh as I emerge from the door, not giving a care what the humans might think of me.
At the store I do what I love most, which is shopping for extravagant clothes and baubles that sparkle in the light. I make sure to buy the most outrageous piece of clothes to make my look stand out in the crowd.
As I'm admired by all who pass by, I remember why I do this; to live life freely without worrying about what anyone else might think. It's why I enjoy my nights so much, when I leave the darkness of my day and embrace the night.
I like to fly above the streets and spy on the humans like they're some kind of fascinating specimen that I can't help but be curious of. I try to pick out juicy gossip and learn others secrets; all for the thrill of it rather than for any malicious intent.
Tonight will be no different. I can feel it in my bones that this night will be full of adventure. I can feel the excitement coursing through my veins and I can hardly wait to get started.
The night is full of laughter, music, and expensive cocktails. I meet with old friends and make new ones. I am unafraid in this moment, my vampire cloak encompasses me and keeps me safe from judgement. But eventually, the sun rises and I must go back to my own realm.
At the break of dawn, I find myself outside, soaking in the warm sun and the sight of birds soaring in the sky. This is the way I want to live my life; in the sun and under the stars. It is my own little paradise and I wouldn't want it any other way.
