I feel like I'm at the top of a mountain, observing the night sky. The stars twinkle and I can identify some of the constellations, like the Big Dipper. The moon illuminates my path and I'm surrounded by the silence of the night, only interrupted by a distant howl.
I take a deep breath, appreciating the absolute peace of the world before I turn to my mission for tonight. There's a switch inside me, and it's been activated. I put on my usual, comfortable outfit, of a silk blouse and black trousers. I prepare the magic tools I need. I'm ready for action.
I open the door of my castle and walk out, entering the dark night. The air feels like velvet. I make my way to the graveyard, where I can feel the energy of my kin. I use my sixth sense to detect my prey. An unsuspecting soul wandering in the darkness.
I sneak up on my victim from behind and freeze them in their tracks. Only my eyes reflect in the moonlight. I can feel the fear wafting off my victim and this is when I start to feed. I absorb their stress and anxiety until they have nothing left, then I move on.
There are moments throughout the night when I forget who I am. When I forget my origins and the power I possess. But when I notice the grateful gaze of the people whose lives I have changed, I'm reminded of my true purpose. Of why I do what I do.
As the night draws to a close, I take a moment to sip a Pina Colada by a nearby pool. It's a beautiful moment, and it gives me strength for a new day. I return to my castle feeling more alive than ever and somehow, I know that things will only get better.
