My day started like any other day. I stepped out my door, looking up at the sky expectantly to see if there were any clouds, but alas, it was just another dull day. I sighed and stepped off in the direction of the mall. I needed some time to relax, and there was nothing like a good shopping spree to take my mind off of things.

As I reached the mall, the first thing I noticed was that it seemed unusually busy. People were running around like chickens with their heads cut off, and I spotted a few vampires milling around. I had to grin at that; it's not often you come across other vampires!

I made my way to my favorite store, where I grabbed a few new items for the coming weeks. Shopping is always so fun for me, especially when I find something I really like. I felt my stomach grumble and knew it was time to look for some food.

I headed to the food court, where I was not at all surprised to find it completely packed with all kinds of people. I had plans to find the best deal on some food, when I saw something that caught my eye.

In the center of the food court was a small woman, beautifully dressed like a lady from the 1700s, dancing in circles with a pair of bats. As the music grew louder, the bats began to swarm around her head, and I watched in awe as she elegantly made her way around the room.

As the music faded, I realized that the woman was none other than Mary Read, the famous pirate. I froze in my spot, too amazed to move. She finally stopped and looked directly at me, locking eyes with mine. As if no one else was around, she smiled before disappearing into the crowd.

This had been a very strange day, indeed. I hopped on the bus and headed home, musing about the incredible things I had seen that day. Already I was thinking of clever and absurd things to write about it in my journal. Though my day had started unexcitingly, it had ended on a very magical note.
