Vampirix diary Mary Read

It was one of those days when I felt like an ancient princess warrior. I spent most of my morning flea-market hunting, and when I got home I was buzzing with excitement at the treasure I had found. The day dragged on as I counted the minutes until the night to come. I had been invited to a small gathering of friends, and as the hours crept by, I became more and more anxious to get there.

I had been looking forward to this gathering all week. All of us have supernatural abilities and its usual fodder for an interesting night. I could feel the beginnings of a buzzing excitement disperse within me as I continued about my day.

My evening began by raiding my wardrobe; I put on my best white dress and the Vampirix collar given to me by the leader of our clan. I felt like a powerful celebration of femininity. The sun set and my muscles slowly unclenched as I started the walk to my destination.

My friends greeted me warmly and we quickly got down to business. We started by discussing the usual topics, like our brief stints in powerful political positions. But soon we found ourselves in the realm of superstition and gossip. We started rating vampire urban legends on a scale of believability, chugging Pina Coladas like there was no tomorrow.

The evening seemed to fly by, and it was getting late. So we decided to get up and go outdoors. I feared I would be late, but the night was young and I can fly through the sky with the greatest of ease. Something about night flying brings out the ancient princess warrior in me.

We flew as a pack, whooping and hollering as we soared through the night sky, before hanging in the rain like some Hitchcock film's protagonists. As the night was coming to an end, it seemed the storm was getting started; the rain was crashing and the thunder rumbled.

I was the last one home, and as my house came into view I felt something deep within me unclench. I was thankful for another night spent feeling my power, celebrating a night time I don't know when. As I crawled in my bedroom I couldn't help but smile; another successful night spent with friends. To think it had all started with some Pina Coladas!
